HUIS II (2019)

A performance about personal vs. public space.

filmed by Jesse Meisters

With yellow extensions on her arms, a woman maneuvers among unsuspecting passersby through Lumière Film Theater, scanning the space, avoiding and sometimes claiming it. How far does her personal space extend? What constitutes the space between the architecture and her body, between the other and herself? Can she become one with the building, with her body, with her house?

HUIS II was shown during Winternights Festival, in combination with an exhibition of drawings (risoprints) I made of my own personal space: my house.

Four small, black tables in a diagonal, each exhibiting a black and white risoprint of abstract drawings of a house. In the background a tall, hollow and yellow sculpture leaning against the wall.
A horizontal, black and white risoprint on a black surface showing two drawings. On the left a centered skeleton of a house, on the right, spread, architectural elements of a house.

Direction and prints: Rosa Vrij | Design arm pieces: Ben Weir | Performer: Sofie Kramer |  Thanks to Winternights Festival

Logo: two overlapping squares, one dark grey and the other light gray.
