HUIS I (2018)

A performance about finding your own strength.

filmed by Felicitas Lenz

HUIS I was the result of a one week residency with dance company GOTRA (Maastricht). Ben Weir and I designed yellow, wooden objects that together formed a costume. This costume was inspired by the T-shaped, concrete support structure of our house.

In the performance, a wandering man searches for his anchor. He creates compositions with the loose objects in the space. When he discovers that these objects together form a costume, he puts it on as an extension of his body. This costume offers him the stability and freedom to occupy space, explore his movements, and find strength.
